Part 1 – August 14, 2022
Galatians 5:16-18 – Hoping to live more spiritually? Today we start our new series titled, “Spirit Walk: Simplifying what it means to live spiritually”. In this series we will focus on Paul’s warning and admonishment to the Galatians to abstain from gratifying the deeds of the flesh by simply walking in the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Over the next 9 weeks, we’ll look at the different ingredients making up the fruit of the Spirit (a single fruit as with orange slices to an orange). This week, Pastor James discusses Love.
Part 2 – August 21, 2022
In Part 2 of our new series, “Spirit Walk”, Pastor James discusses the spiritual ingredient of Joy. The question that must be answered for us all is, when faced with daily thoughts from the past, the grind of the present and anxieties of the future, how might it be possible to walk in Joy when present circumstances of everyday life outweighs the supposed condition for Joy. Today we learn two types of biblical Joy that’s likely in view here that shed light on the supposed dilemma above.
Part 3 – August 28, 2022
Galatians 5:16-18 – In Part 3 of our series, we learn that a life led by the Holy Spirit results in many kinds of peace between people. How can God’s people pursue peace with others? When we let Holy Spirit lead, He empowers us to pursue peace with people!
Part 5 – September 4, 2022
Galatians 5:22-25 – In part 4 of our series, “Spirit Walk”, we arrive at the all too familiar need for more patience. Pastor James looked at some of the most iconic characters in network TV history and our culture’s fascination with those memorable impatient characters that leave an amusing impression. However, Pastor James submits that such qualities are not unilaterally trapped in TV land, divorced from human experience. No, these ways of operating with people are a reflection of the general population. And perhaps our faces don’t turn red or our bodies levitate with explosive tempers, however, maybe we stand at the ready to either tell someone off or cut someone off. Paul says that the Spirit produces Patience which means we are to walk in Patience. Today we explore what that means in looking at The Producer of Patience and The Practice of Patience.
Part 5 – September 11, 2022
Galatians 5:22-25 – Acts of Kindness and unkindness are treated at the greatest of importance in Scripture. As a matter of fact, Paul addressing unkindness is part of the context here in Asia Minor. As Pastor James explains, there is so much hostility, quarreling, outbursts of anger, dissension and division, as listed in verse 20 as a result of departing from the Gospel. And this is not the type of community that Jesus is establishing in the world that the world may be drawn to him. Our central question this morning is WHAT IS IT THAT THE SPIRIT IS PRODUCING IN US AND THUS EXPECTING OF US WHEN IT COMES TO BEING KIND TO ONE ANOTHER? Tune in to get the answer to this question from Galatians 5
Part 6 – September 25, 2022
This Sunday we explored how a life led by Holy Spirit produces good generosity (Matthew 20:1-15 Proverbs 28:22, 23:6, 22:9 Galatians 5:22) and also demonstrates good generosity (Romans 15:14, Ephesians 5:8-10, 2nd Thessalonians 1:11). Overall, when we let Holy Spirit lead, as we should; He helps us generously bring about good!
Part 7 – October 2, 2022
We have found ourselves yet again at another aspect of what it means to live by and be led by the very Spirit of God. Today we defined biblical faithfulness. However, as you listen, you’ll quickly discover that we can’t get very far in defining our faithfulness without first defining the faithfulness of God towards those that belong to him, are being saved by him, Tune in to hear how divine faithfulness empowers God’s people.
Part 8 – October 9, 2022
Galatians: 5:22-25
Part 9 – October 16, 2022
Galatians: 5:22-25
How can we overcome temptation to sin, like the broken desires mentioned in Galatians 5:19-21? We can through the Holy Spirit empowering us (Galatians 5:23). Temptation to sin will persist, but the Spirit’s self-control helps us resist!
